The VCNL4200 is a high-sensitivity long-distance proximity and ambient light sensor that integrates a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and 940 nm infrared emitter into a compact SMD-10 package. Built using advanced CMOS technology, the device combines photodiodes, amplifiers, and analog-to-digital conversion circuitry into a single solution, enabling accurate proximity detection and ambient light measurement while reducing board space requirements. The 16-bit high-resolution ambient light sensor provides excellent performance across a wide range of lighting conditions and supports both dark and high-transparency lens designs.

The proximity sensing function features intelligent background light cancellation and programmable 12-bit or 16-bit resolution options for improved detection accuracy. Vishay's patented Filtron technology closely matches the spectral response of the human eye while providing exceptional ambient light rejection, including sunlight immunity. Integrated temperature compensation maintains stable output performance under changing environmental conditions.
