The Redhobby AM32 30A Bidirectional Brushless Electronic Speed Controller brings the open-source AM32 firmware platform to a versatile, multi-platform speed controller rated at 30A continuous on a 2-4S LiPo input. AM32 is a community-developed brushless ESC firmware designed as a capable alternative to BLheli_S, offering active development, bidirectional DSHOT support, and extended configurability through the AM32 configurator interface. This makes the ESC well-suited for RC multicopters and fixed-wing aircraft running Betaflight or ArduPilot-based flight controllers, as well as surface and marine platforms where bidirectional motor control and digital signal protocol support are required from a single compact unit.
A distinguishing feature of this ESC over comparable units in the 30A class is the integrated UBEC output rated at 6V / 2A, a step up from the standard 5V / 500mA or 5V / 1A BEC commonly found in this current class. The 6V / 2A UBEC delivers sufficient regulated power for receivers paired with higher-voltage digital servos, onboard FPV electronics, or multiple servo channels without requiring a separate voltage regulator module. Bidirectional operation enables forward and reverse motor rotation without manual phase-swap rewiring, supporting RC car and boat applications where reversing drive direction through the transmitter is a standard operational requirement. The AM32 firmware's support for DSHOT digital protocols, RPM telemetry, and extended motor timing parameters makes this ESC a capable choice for builders who want open-source firmware flexibility across a diverse range of RC platforms.
