Description
The DFRobot Expansion Shield is a popular choice among those looking for a fast and simple way to prototype robotics. One of the main benefits of this design is that it helps to prevent issues that can arise from soldering and wiring errors, which can increase the time and cost of projects. The color code for sensors and actuators' inputs and outputs, which uses a 3-pin format for signal, voltage, and ground, is particularly useful for working with the growing range of modules, sensors, and devices that are compatible with the expansion shield.
In addition to this, the board also features a power input for use with salvaged or laboratory power supplies, and a Xbee socket for wireless connectivity options such as RF, wireless, and Bluetooth. The latest version of the expansion shield also includes a hardware setting for voltage, which can be adjusted using a jumper to allow for compatibility with components that operate at 3.3v, such as the Raspberry Pi and Due.
Additionally, the expansion shield includes a servo external power with a protective diode, enabling a wide range of servos to be used with Arduino.
