Description

Dual-Channel Bidirectional 5Ax2 Brushed ESC for 2-3S LiPo - Independent Left and Right Motor Speed Controller for RC Tank and Differential-Steering Boat

The 5Ax2 Dual-Way Bidirectional Brushed Electronic Speed Controller is designed specifically for RC platforms that rely on differential steering, where independent left and right motor control determines both speed and direction. Each of the 2 onboard channels handles up to 5A continuous, driving separate brushed motors simultaneously from a single 2-3S LiPo or equivalent input. This architecture makes the ESC directly compatible with RC tanks, tracked vehicles, and differential-steering watercraft, where turning is achieved by varying the relative speed or reversing one motor channel against the other rather than using a conventional servo-steered mechanism.

The integrated 5V / 500mA BEC output powers the receiver directly from the ESC, eliminating the need for a separate battery or regulator on the receiver rail and keeping the wiring layout clean in compact tank and boat hulls. Both channels support full bidirectional operation, enabling forward, reverse, and pivot-turn manoeuvres entirely through throttle and steering stick input from a standard 2-channel RC transmitter. The compact, single-board design simplifies installation in tight chassis and hull spaces where mounting two separate ESCs would be impractical. With a straightforward PWM signal interface, this dual-way ESC integrates with conventional RC receivers without requiring any proprietary controller or firmware configuration.

Key Features

  • Dual-Channel Output: 2 independent motor channels, each rated at 5A continuous for simultaneous left and right motor drive
  • Bidirectional Control: Full forward and reverse operation on both channels for differential steering and pivot turns
  • Battery Compatibility: 2-3S LiPo (7.4V - 11.1V) or equivalent NiMH input for flexible power sourcing
  • Integrated BEC: 5V / 500mA regulated output powers the RC receiver directly without a separate regulator
  • Differential-Steering Support: Independent per-channel speed and direction control enables tank-style turning and spin turns
  • Signal Input: Standard PWM compatible with conventional 2-channel RC transmitters and receivers
  • Brushed Motor Compatibility: Designed for standard 2-wire brushed DC motors used in RC tanks and differential boats
  • Compact Single-Board Design: Low-profile PCB layout fits inside tight tank hulls and boat fuselages with minimal wiring
  • Low-Voltage Protection: Automatic cutoff prevents LiPo over-discharge during extended run sessions
  • Thermal Protection: Built-in over-temperature safeguard protects both channels under sustained load

Applications

  • RC tanks and tracked vehicles using differential-steering drive systems
  • Differential-steering RC boats and twin-motor watercraft
  • 2-motor RC ground vehicles requiring independent left-right speed control
  • Custom robotics platforms with skid-steer or tank-style drive layouts
  • RC half-tracks and multi-track vehicles with split motor configurations
  • DIY electric differential-drive builds requiring a compact dual-channel brushed ESC
