The M5Stack U178 MIDI Synthesizer Unit is a compact audio-synthesis module built around the SAM2695 audio synthesizer chip. It receives standard MIDI data through serial communication and converts the incoming commands into synthesised audio, making it suitable for embedded music systems, digital instruments and interactive sound projects. The module supports multi-channel instrument sound-source configuration along with audio mixing and sound-processing functions.
For additional audio control, the U178 supports adjustment of parameters including 4-band EQ and reverb. An onboard NS4150B Class-D amplifier provides amplified audio output for compact speaker-based applications.
