Description

This is a breakout board designed for use with the Analog Device ADXL345, a 3-axis accelerometer that is compact, energy-efficient, and capable of high-resolution (13-bit) measurements up to +-16 g. The accelerometer outputs digital data in 16-bit twos complement format, which can be accessed via either SPI (3- or 4-wire) or I2C digital interfaces.

The ADXL345 is particularly suitable for applications that require the measurement of both static and dynamic acceleration, such as tilt sensing or detecting motion or shock. With its high resolution (4 mg/LSB), it can measure inclination changes of less than 1.0 deg. Additionally, the device offers special sensing functions, such as activity and inactivity sensing, tap sensing, and free-fall sensing, which can be mapped to interrupt output pins. An integrated FIFO buffer can be used to store data, reducing the need for host processor intervention. Furthermore, low power modes allow for intelligent motion-based power management with threshold sensing and active acceleration measurement at extremely low power dissipation.
