Banana Pi BPI-M2 Zero Ultra-Compact SBC with Allwinner H3 Quad-Core Cortex-A7, 512 MB DDR3 and Wi-Fi

The Banana Pi BPI-M2 Zero is an ultra-compact single-board computer measuring only 65 x 30 mm, designed for lightweight embedded systems and applications where installation space is limited. The current version uses the Allwinner H3 quad-core Arm Cortex-A7 processor with 512 MB DDR3 SDRAM, providing a compact computing platform for Linux, Android, IoT, automation, and educational projects. Its external interface layout is designed to closely match the Raspberry Pi Zero W, improving compatibility with many cases and accessories intended for the Zero form factor.

The board integrates onboard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity together with Mini HDMI and a 40-pin Raspberry Pi-compatible GPIO header supporting interfaces such as UART, SPI and I2C. Earlier BPI-M2 Zero versions were also based on the Allwinner H2+, but because the H2+ has reached end-of-life status, H3 is now used by default. Software images developed for the H2+ platform remain compatible with the H3-based board, helping maintain software continuity for existing projects.

Key Features

  • Allwinner H3 Processor: Uses the Allwinner H3 SoC as the default processor following the end-of-life status of the H2+.
  • Quad-Core Arm Cortex-A7: Provides 4 processing cores for lightweight embedded and general-purpose computing applications.
  • 512 MB DDR3 SDRAM: Provides system memory for Linux, Android, and compact embedded workloads.
  • Ultra-Compact Form Factor: Measures only 65 x 30 mm for integration into space-constrained devices and enclosures.
  • Raspberry Pi Zero W-Style Layout: External interfaces are designed for compatibility with many Raspberry Pi Zero W cases and accessories.
  • Onboard Wi-Fi: Integrated wireless connectivity supports networked embedded and IoT applications.
  • Onboard Bluetooth: Enables connection to compatible wireless peripherals and embedded devices.
  • K016 Wi-Fi Variant: The K016 wireless chipset does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Mini HDMI Output: Provides digital video output for compatible displays and monitors.
  • 40-Pin GPIO Header: Raspberry Pi-compatible header provides access to general-purpose I/O and peripheral interfaces.
  • UART, SPI and I2C: Supports common embedded communication buses for sensors, displays and expansion hardware.
  • Linux and Android Support: Suitable for projects based on supported Linux distributions or Android software.
  • H2+ Software Compatibility: Existing H2+ software images can also support the H3-based version.
