SparkFun Red Vision Camera Board – HM01B0 (Color): Compact Camera Module for Robotics & Vision Projects

The SparkFun Red Vision Camera Board – HM01B0 is a breakout board for the Himax HM01B0 320×320 color camera module, designed for easy integration into embedded systems and robotics. It breaks out all HM01B0 pins via three 0.1"-spaced plated through-hole (PTH) headers, making it accessible for prototyping and development. This board works as a standalone breakout or in combination with the SparkFun Red Vision Touch Display for Pico, enabling advanced image processing, object detection, and contour tracking for the Experiential Robotics Platform (XRP) Kit using SparkFun’s MicroPython port of OpenCV.

The HM01B0 sensor supports frame rates up to 51 FPS at full 320×320 resolution, 60 FPS at QVGA (320×240), and up to 120 FPS in 2×2 monochrome binning mode, making it versatile for applications that demand speed or color accuracy. It also includes a motion detection interrupt feature, allowing low-power operation by waking the system when movement is detected. With configurable 1/4/8-bit video data interfaces, the HM01B0 supports synchronization across multiple cameras for complex vision systems. For flexibility, the board includes three oscillator options: a default 24 MHz on-board oscillator, the HM01B0’s internal 48 MHz oscillator, or an external clock input via the CLK pin. It regulates input 3.3V supply down to 2.8V, ensuring safe operation for the HM01B0.

Note: This standalone version does not include pre-soldered headers.
