The SparkFun Qwiic Wireless Speaker Kit equips you with all the essentials to craft your very own wireless audio speaker effortlessly. We've taken care of the soldering for you by attaching male header pins to the breakout boards. Just connect the circuit, load the code onto the ESP32 RedBoard IoT Development Board, set up the Qwiic-enabled Audio Codec (WM8960), establish a connection with your Bluetooth audio source, and hit the play button to immerse yourself in your favorite music tracks!
Included in this kit is the SparkFun ESP32 IoT RedBoard, enabling seamless wireless music streaming from an audio source to Espressif's ESP32 WROOM module. The audio signal is then routed to the SparkFun WM8960 Audio Codec using the I2S protocol, a standard for transmitting audio data (distinct from I2C). The WM8960 Audio Codec boasts low power consumption and exceptional stereo audio quality. Among its extensive feature set are advanced on-chip digital signal processing capabilities for automatic level control (ALC) for both line and microphone inputs, a programmable gain amplifier (PGA), suppression of pops and clicks, 3D enhancement to widen the stereo field, versatile analog input pins, flexible analog signal routing, multiple amplification stages, and the ability to configure I2S settings and analog audio pathways through software using I2C. Once the audio codec decodes the stereo signal from the DAC, the sound is directed to the desired output channels, which in this scenario encompass headphone drivers and a compact mini speaker.
