20-Bit INA228 Qwiic Current and Power Sensor with Energy and Charge Monitoring

The SparkFun INA228 Qwiic Current Sensor is a high-precision DC and power-monitoring breakout based on the Texas Instruments INA228 digital power monitor. Its integrated 20-bit delta-sigma ADC measures current, bus voltage, power, and internal temperature while also tracking accumulated energy and charge. The sensor communicates over I2C, making it suitable for battery systems, power supplies, embedded electronics, and applications requiring detailed real-time power analysis.

The breakout includes a pre-installed 15 mOhm shunt resistor, a 3-pin screw terminal, and 2x Qwiic connectors for convenient solderless integration. A 0.1-inch spaced plated through-hole header provides access to power, SDA, SCL, and the multi-purpose alert output, while additional through-hole connections allow a custom shunt resistor to be used when required. With 0.5% full-scale power accuracy, 1.0% full-scale energy and charge accuracy, up to 154 dB common-mode rejection, and operation from -40 C to +125 C, the INA228 is well-suited for precision power-monitoring applications.
