Description

The SparkFun SAM-M10Q GPS Breakout incorporates the SAM-M10Q chip-antenna module from u-blox. It serves as an upgraded version of u-blox's M8Q, which was used in the SparkFun GPS Breakout - Chip Antenna, SAM-M8Q (Qwiic). The SAM-M10Q offers enhanced features that significantly reduce power consumption by almost 50%, while simultaneously improving overall performance and accuracy. By leveraging the SAM-M10Q, users can receive signals from up to four GNSS constellations simultaneously, resulting in improved time-to-fix and positional accuracy, even in scenarios with limited sky visibility.

The SAM-M10Q module is equipped with a built-in chip antenna and is compatible with the L1 band across all five GNSS constellations: GPS L1 C/A, QZSS L1 C/A L1S, GLONASS L1OF, BeiDou B1C, and Galileo E1B/C. It offers a horizontal position accuracy of 1.5 meters, with a maximum update rate of 18Hz when utilizing a single GNSS constellation (or up to 5Hz when utilizing all four GNSS constellations). In terms of startup time, the SAM-M10Q achieves a cold start fix in just 23 seconds. Additionally, the board includes a rechargeable 3V/1mAh battery, providing backup power for up to four hours and allowing for a hot start within a mere one second.

This board has been specifically designed to seamlessly integrate into the Qwiic system, eliminating the need for soldering when connecting it to the remainder of your I2C system.
