With the well-liked ENS160 and BME280 ICs, the SparkFun ENS160/BME280 Environmental Combo Breakout takes care of all your atmospheric-quality sensor needs. A variety of environmental variables, such as the AQI, TVOCs, equivalent CO2 (or eCO2) levels, barometric pressure, humidity, and temperature, are provided by this special breakout. Using our convenient Qwiic system, all communication is done only via I2C to make using this breakout even simpler. However, we still have broken-out pins with a 0.1-inch spacing if you would rather use a breadboard.
The popular CCS811 sensor has been replaced by the ENS160, which measures total volatile organic chemicals in parts per billion (PPB) and equivalent CO2 (eCO2) in parts per million (PPM). An additional feature of the sensor is the Air Quality Index (AQI). If the ENS160 can access the current temperature and humidity, it also includes a capability that lets it adjust its readings. Fortunately, the BME280 offers temperature, barometric pressure, and humidity! As a result, the sensors can cooperate to provide us with measurements that are more accurate than they otherwise could.
FAQs:
Q: What environmental parameters does the SparkFun Environmental Combo Breakout measure?
A: The breakout board measures air quality (eCO2, TVOCs, AQI), barometric pressure, humidity, and temperature.
Q: What sensors are used in the SparkFun Environmental Combo Breakout?
A: The breakout board combines the ENS160 sensor for air quality and the BME280 sensor for barometric pressure, humidity, and temperature measurements.
Q: What communication interface does the breakout board use?
A: The breakout board uses the I2C interface with the Qwiic connect system for easy and convenient connection to other devices.
Q: Is the SparkFun Environmental Combo Breakout suitable for indoor air quality monitoring?
A: Yes, the ENS160 sensor in the breakout board is specifically designed to measure indoor air quality parameters like eCO2, TVOCs, and AQI, making it suitable for indoor air quality monitoring applications.
Q: Are there any software libraries or examples available for using the breakout board?
A: SparkFun provides Arduino libraries and example code for both the ENS160 and BME280 sensors, which can be used to easily interface with and read data from the SparkFun Environmental Combo Breakout.
