Description
The SparkFun 1.8V Buck Regulator Breakout is equipped with the AP3429A from Diodes Inc., a 2A step-down DC-DC converter. It accepts input voltages ranging from 2.7V to 5.5V. This particular breakout board is designed to provide a steady 1.8V output and includes an EN (enable) pin for control.
To manage excessive heat, the board features a copper pad measuring 0.6in. x 0.5in. on its underside, allowing for the attachment of a heat sink.
As a full-size buck regulator breakout, this board offers various options for connecting input and output power. It includes a pre-assembled screw terminal for convenient non-permanent connections. Additionally, you have the choice to solder on a barrel jack for an external power supply. For more permanent installations, there are five PTH pins available. To indicate power output status, a red LED is included, which illuminates when the power output is enabled. The board also provides four mounting holes compatible with 4-40 hardware.
