MATEK ASPD-4525 Digital Airspeed Sensor for RC FPV Fixed-Wing and UAV - MS4525DO Pressure Sensor, 14-Bit 24-Bit Delta-Sigma ADC, I2C, ArduPilot, iNav, and PX4 Compatible
The MATEK ASPD-4525 is a high-precision digital airspeed sensor built around the Measurement Specialties MS4525DO differential pressure sensor IC, designed for RC FPV fixed-wing aircraft, UAV platforms, and autonomous flight builds requiring accurate, real-time indicated and true airspeed measurement for flight controller integration. The MS4525DO sensor delivers a 1 psi (6.9 kPa) differential pressure measurement range covering airspeeds up to approximately 100 m/s (360 km/h / 223 mph), with a resolution of 0.84 Pa from a 24-bit delta-sigma ADC delivering 14-bit data output - a measurement precision class substantially above the analogue airspeed sensor setups previously common in Pixhawk and PX4-based fixed-wing builds. The 24-bit delta-sigma ADC architecture provides the oversampling and noise rejection required to extract reliable low-speed airspeed readings at the lower end of the measurement range, where differential pressure values are small and sensor resolution has the greatest practical impact on flight controller airspeed accuracy.
A key operational advantage of the ASPD-4525 over analogue predecessor sensor setups is the onboard temperature measurement capability, which allows the flight controller to calculate true airspeed from indicated airspeed using the air density correction derived from the measured air temperature in combination with the MS5611 static pressure sensor on Pixhawk and PX4 autopilot hardware. Because the ASPD-4525 sensor is positioned at the pitot tube inlet rather than adjacent to heat-generating processing electronics on the flight controller board, the measured air temperature is substantially closer to the actual ambient air temperature than was achievable with earlier analogue sensor configurations where the temperature sensor was integrated into the flight controller PCB itself. I2C communication delivers digital sensor data directly to compatible flight controllers without analogue signal conditioning, ADC conversion, or calibration drift concerns associated with analogue pitot sensor setups. The kit includes the ASPD-4525 sensor board, a 20cm JST-GH to JST-GH silicone cable, a pitot tube, and 40cm of clear silicone tubing for a complete ready-to-install airspeed sensing assembly on ArduPilot, iNav, and PX4 autopilot systems, with M3 and 6-32 mounting holes supporting direct panel and frame installation across Pixhawk and PX4 autopilot generation boards.
