Description

Enhance the capabilities of your Raspberry Pi with the Adafruit Voice Bonnet, giving it the power of speech and hearing. This add-on board features two microphones and two 1 Watt speaker outputs, utilizing a high-quality I2S codec for exceptional audio performance. Compatible with a wide range of Raspberry Pi models, from the Pi Zero to the Pi 4 and beyond, this bonnet is designed to work seamlessly with any Pi featuring a 2x20 connector. The on-board WM8960 codec ensures superior recording and playback quality compared to the standard Pi's headphone jack or the Pi Zero's absence of a headphone jack. We've incorporated ferrite beads and filter capacitors on all inputs and outputs to deliver the best possible audio performance, all at an affordable price.

The Adafruit Voice Bonnet is specifically designed for machine learning projects, such as DIY voice assistants. It enables voice-activated or voice recognition projects with its two microphones, allowing for basic voice position detection as well. Key features of the bonnet include I2S digital audio support, an on/off privacy switch for audio deactivation, two analog microphone inputs (left and right), two 1W speaker outputs, and a 3.5mm stereo headphone or line-out audio jack. It easily plugs into any Raspberry Pi with 2x20 headers, providing seamless integration.

These include a push button for mode changes or voice assistant activation, three DotStar RGB LEDs for feedback or visual effects, a STEMMA QT connector for easy connection of I2C sensors, OLEDs, or accessories, and a 3-pin JST STEMMA connector for larger accessories like NeoPixels, relays, or servos.

No assembly is required - simply attach the bonnet to your Pi and install the microphone/speaker card using our installer script. Your Pi will then have stereo input and output capabilities, recognized by software as standard audio devices. Whether you want to play music or record audio, this bonnet provides a seamless solution. The built-in microphones ensure convenient audio input, while the Line-out/Headphone jack or enclosed speakers offer flexible audio output options.
