Adafruit PN532 NFC/RFID Controller Shield for Arduino + Extras – 13.56MHz NFC Development Shield

The Adafruit PN532 NFC/RFID Controller Shield for Arduino is a powerful and versatile tool for integrating NFC (Near Field Communication) and RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) into your projects. Based on the industry-standard PN532 chipset, found in many smartphones and consumer devices, this shield supports reading and writing 13.56 MHz NFC/RFID tags and cards, making it perfect for authentication, access control, inventory systems, and NFC-enabled IoT applications. Designed by RF engineers for maximum performance, the shield features a carefully tuned PCB antenna with a 10 cm (4 inch) read range—the maximum achievable with 13.56 MHz technology. It supports both I2C (default) and SPI communication protocols, offering flexibility for different project needs. An interrupt pin (default D2) eliminates the need for polling, making detection faster and more efficient. The shield is fully compatible with classic Arduino boards (UNO, Mega, NG, Diecimilla, Duemilanove, etc.) and works with Type 1–4 NFC/RFID tags.

Key Features of Adafruit PN532 NFC/RFID Shield
