The Seeed Studio W5500 Ethernet Shield v1.0 is a high-performance Ethernet expansion shield designed to add stable wired internet connectivity to Arduino and compatible development boards. Powered by the W5500 Ethernet controller, this shield integrates a complete TCP/IP stack, 10/100 Ethernet MAC, and PHY in a single chip, reducing processing overhead on the host microcontroller. It is well-suited for IoT gateways, industrial monitoring, smart-home systems, data logging, and embedded networking applications.
This Ethernet shield supports up to 8 simultaneous sockets and multiple networking protocols, including TCP, UDP, ICMP, IPv4, ARP, IGMP, and PPPoE. The onboard microSD card slot enables convenient local data storage for sensor logging and network-based applications. Two integrated Grove connectors simplify the connection of Grove sensors and modules through I2C and UART interfaces. Its low-profile RJ45 connector design also allows additional shields to be stacked efficiently for advanced embedded-system projects.
