The SparkFun Thing Plus Matter, a groundbreaking development board that combines the power of Matter and SparkFun's Qwiic ecosystem to facilitate agile development and prototyping of IoT devices. This innovative board integrates the MGM240P wireless module from Silicon Labs, ensuring secure connectivity for 802.15.4 Mesh communication (Thread) and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3 protocols. With the module already equipped for integration into Silicon Labs' Matter IoT protocol for home automation, it offers a seamless experience.
The Thing Plus Matter - MGM240P board is designed to be Feather-compatible, making it easy to use and expand upon. It includes a Qwiic connector, enabling effortless integration into the Qwiic Connect System for solderless I2C circuits. Additionally, the board features connectors for Qwiic and LiPo batteries, as well as multiple GPIO pins that can be fully controlled through software for versatile multiplexing. For convenience, the MCP73831 single-cell LiPo charger and the MAX17048 fuel gauge are included to efficiently charge and monitor the connected battery. Moreover, an µSD card slot is provided to accommodate any external memory requirements.
At the heart of the MGM240P wireless module lies the EFR32MG24 Wireless SoC, featuring a powerful 32-bit ARM Cortex-M33 core processor operating at 39 MHz. With 1536 kb of Flash memory and 256 kb of RAM, this module offers ample storage and processing capabilities. It supports various 802.15.4 wireless protocols, including Matter, Zigbee, and OpenThread, in addition to Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3. For enhanced security in Thread applications, the MGM240P incorporates Silicon Labs' Secure Vault technology, providing a robust foundation for secure communication.
