The SparkFun Spectral Sensor – AS7343 (Qwiic) is a compact, high-sensitivity multi-spectral sensing solution designed for precise light measurement across both the visible (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) ranges. Built around the AMS AS7343 spectral sensor, it enables accurate detection of reflected, emitted, and transmitted light from approximately 380 nm to 1000 nm. This makes it well suited for spectroscopy applications such as colour matching, spectral signature analysis, material identification, and optical filtering, even in low-light conditions or when sensing through tinted glass.

Mounted on a 1 inch by 1 inch Qwiic breakout board, the AS7343 integrates seamlessly with I2C-based systems using solderless Qwiic connectors. The board includes onboard voltage regulation, indicator LEDs, optional LED drive support, and GPIO functionality for synchronised measurements. Its ultra-low power operation and wide spectral coverage make it suitable for portable instruments, research projects, industrial sensing, and embedded optical systems.
