The SparkFun 2D Barcode Scanner Breakout v2 integrates the DYscan DE2290D scanning module with advanced CMOS image recognition and a 300,000-pixel global-shutter camera. It can identify and decode more than 30 different 1D and 2D barcode formats, including UPC, EAN, QR Code, Data Matrix, and Aztec. With a reading precision of 3 mil or 0.076 mm, the scanner is suitable for product identification, inventory systems, access control, embedded kiosks, and automated data-entry applications.
The scanner automatically adjusts its illumination brightness according to the distance from the target, supporting reliable reading from printed labels, product packaging, and digital screens. A white illumination LED improves scene visibility, while a red LED projects an aiming line for accurate alignment. USB-C provides plug-and-play operation with keyboard, HID, and serial communication, while the 5-pin header offers direct access to TTL serial, power, and trigger connections for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other embedded systems.
