Description

These devices add a family of full-duplex transceivers to the RS-485 line, with powerful 3.3-V drivers and receivers as well as good ESD protection. The ESD protection features >±30-kV HBM and >±12-kV IEC61000-4-2 contact discharge. The substantial receiver hysteresis of the SN65HVD7x devices provides immunity to conducted differential noise, and the wide working temperature range ensures durability in severe operating situations. The SN65HVD7x devices come in both regular SOIC and small-footprint MSOP packages. Each of these devices consists of a differential driver and a differential receiver that are powered by a single 3.3-V supply. For full-duplex bus communication, each driver and receiver have distinct input and output pins. These devices all have a wide common-mode voltage range, making them ideal for multi-point applications with long cable runs. The SN65HVD71, SN65HVD74, and SN65HVD77 devices are completely enabled, with no additional enabling pins. The SN65HVD70, SN65HVD73, and SN65HVD76 devices support active-high driver and active-low receiver modes. To get a low standby current of less than 5 µA, disable both the driver and the receiver.
