Compact Field Oriented Control BLDC Motor Driver Board For Precise Motion Applications
SimpleFOCmini brushless DC motor driver board is a compact high performance solution designed for accurate control of BLDC motors in space constrained embedded systems. With a small footprint of twenty six by twenty one point five millimetre it integrates advanced Field Oriented Control technology enabling real time closed loop control of motor position speed and torque with high efficiency and smooth response.
The driver supports a wide operating voltage range from eight volt to thirty volt and delivers up to two point five ampere peak current making it suitable for robotics automation gimbals and precision motion systems. Native compatibility with three point three volt and five volt logic levels combined with full support for the SimpleFOC open source library allows seamless integration with Arduino ESP32 and Raspberry Pi platforms for rapid development and tuning.
Key Features

Precise Control at All Speeds
Unlike conventional ESCs, which struggle with low-speed stability, the SimpleFOCmini's FOC algorithm enables stable and smooth motor control across the full speed range—from total standstill to maximum RPM. This characteristic is critical for applications that require fluid, progressive acceleration or constant rotation at extremely low rates.
Closed-Loop Torque, Speed, and Position Control
The SimpleFOCmini has three distinct closed-loop control modes. This motion control solution goes beyond simple speed adjustments to include direct current (torque) control for force-feedback systems, accurate speed control to maintain constant velocity under varying loads, and high-accuracy position control for robotic arms and actuators.
Exceptionally Quiet and Smooth Operation
The SimpleFOCmini achieves very smooth motor commutation by using a sinusoidal wave drive rather than high-frequency square waves found in normal ESCs. This causes a significant reduction in audible noise and mechanical vibration, making this FOC controller perfect for noise-sensitive applications.
High-Performance Commutation and Braking
The FOC approach delivers excellent commutation performance, allowing for seamless and quick switching between forward and reverse rotation even at high speeds. Furthermore, this brushless driver allows regenerative braking, which enables efficient and controlled slowing by recovering kinetic energy.
Seamless Open-Source Integration
The SimpleFOCmini driver board, designed for rapid development and experimentation, receives 3.3V and 5V control signals for direct integration with popular microcontrollers. Its capability is completely supported by the SimpleFOC open-source library, which includes solid algorithms and clear examples for the Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi platforms.
