Galvanically Isolated TTL to RS232 Converter with Surge Protection and DIN-Rail Mounting

The Waveshare TTL TO RS232 (B) is an industrial rail-mount serial converter designed to convert TTL-level serial signals into standard RS232 signals for reliable point-to-point communication. It supports 3.3V to 5V TTL logic and full-duplex communication, making it suitable for connecting microcontrollers, embedded systems, industrial controllers, and peripheral devices to RS232 equipment.

The converter integrates galvanic power-supply isolation and digital signal isolation to electrically separate the TTL and RS232 sides, improving noise immunity and reliability in electrically demanding environments. Protection circuitry includes a TVS suppressor, surge and ESD protection, protection diodes, reverse-polarity protection, and over-voltage protection. The isolated side does not require a separate external power supply because the onboard isolated power circuit provides the required isolated voltage. Screw-terminal connections, status LEDs, and a compact ABS enclosure compatible with 35 mm DIN rails simplify installation in industrial control cabinets and automation systems.
