The PAM2401SCADJ from Diodes Incorporated is a high-efficiency, current-mode step-up (boost) DC-DC converter optimized for portable and battery-powered systems. Capable of delivering up to 1A output current, this device provides flexible and stable power conversion with a programmable output voltage range from 2.5V to 5.0V. Operating at a fixed 1MHz switching frequency, the PAM2401 allows the use of small inductors and capacitors, minimizing PCB footprint while maintaining excellent transient response. The converter integrates a 0.10Ω N-channel MOSFET and a 0.15Ω P-channel synchronous rectifier, reducing external component count and maximizing conversion efficiency.

With true output disconnect and inrush current limiting, the device prevents unwanted discharge paths and ensures safe startup conditions. The programmable current limit (1A to 3A) is set via an external resistor, and internal soft-start minimizes inrush current during power-up. Under light-load conditions, the PAM2401 automatically enters Pulse Skip Mode (PSM) to enhance efficiency, consuming only 150µA quiescent current and less than 1µA in shutdown. Protection features such as overvoltage protection (OVP), overtemperature protection (OTP), anti-ringing control, and hiccup short-circuit protection make it a robust and reliable solution for demanding designs. Packaged in a compact TSSOP-8 (MSOP-8), the PAM2401 is ideal for portable devices, wireless systems, and sensor modules requiring high-efficiency step-up power conversion.
