Within such applications, the power boost and battery charger play a crucial role, serving as prerequisites for the system. Typically, the traditional approach involves separate circuits for power boost and battery charging, resulting in a relatively complex construction process.
However, the Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) MP2636 presents a highly-integrated and flexible switch-mode battery charger. This system incorporates system power path management and is specifically designed for single-cell Li-ion or Li-Polymer batteries, commonly utilized in a wide range of portable applications. The MP2636 offers exceptional user-friendliness, functioning similarly to a power bank upon connecting a lipo battery. When an external power supply is present at the VIN input, the battery is automatically charged, indicated by the illuminated CHG LED. Conversely, when only the battery is connected to the battery port without an external power source, the Boost feature is activated.
