The Industrial RS485 Ammonia Nitrogen and pH Water Quality Sensor is an integrated industrial-grade probe and housing assembly designed for accurate, continuous measurement of ammonia nitrogen concentration in water - covering both free ammonia (NH3) and ammonium ions (NH4+) - across a 0-100 mg/L measurement range with 0.01 mg/L resolution and plus or minus 3% FS accuracy. The integrated probe and housing design consolidates the sensor element, signal conditioning, temperature compensation circuit, and RS485 communication interface into a single submersible unit, eliminating the external junction boxes, separate transmitter modules, and complex field wiring assemblies required by multi-component analogue ammonia measurement systems. IP68 waterproof rating confirms the probe and housing assembly is rated for continuous full submersion beyond 1 metre depth, sustaining reliable measurement in the wet, chemically active, and mechanically demanding environments of aquaculture tanks, wastewater aeration basins, open waterways, and hydroponic irrigation circuits.
Automatic pH and temperature compensation is applied internally by the sensor's signal processing circuit to correct measured ammonia values for the pH and temperature dependency of the NH3 to NH4+ equilibrium in water, ensuring that reported ammonia nitrogen concentration accurately reflects the total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) and free ammonia fraction across the range of pH and temperature conditions encountered in real-world aquaculture, wastewater, and environmental monitoring deployments without manual correction calculations by the operator. The RS485 communication interface with ModBus-RTU protocol provides direct integration with industrial PLCs, SCADA systems, data loggers, IoT gateways, and microcontroller-based monitoring platforms without signal conversion hardware, and the standardised ModBus-RTU register map allows the sensor to be integrated into multi-sensor monitoring networks alongside other RS485 ModBus-compatible water quality parameters. Two-point electrode calibration via the simple onboard calibration function maintains measurement accuracy over the sensor's operational life as the electrode surface ages, with the two-point calibration procedure correcting both offset and slope drift without requiring laboratory recalibration or sensor replacement at standard service intervals.
