Fermion BMV080 air quality sensor is an ultra compact particulate matter sensing module designed for accurate long term monitoring of airborne particles in space constrained and battery powered applications. Built around the Bosch BMV080 the worlds smallest particulate matter sensing unit this module uses laser based light scattering with a completely fanless measurement principle to deliver stable and reliable results without mechanical wear or noise.
The sensor simultaneously measures PM1 PM25 and PM10 mass concentrations with laboratory grade accuracy while consuming extremely low power. By eliminating moving parts it avoids dust buildup mechanical failure and acoustic noise and offers an operational lifespan of up to ten years. With a compact footprint of twenty four by twenty millimetre and ultra low sleep current it is ideal for portable air quality monitors smart home devices thermostats and distributed IoT sensor nodes.

Revolutionary Fanless Architecture
Conventional particulate matter detectors use built-in fans to draw in air samples, which inevitably leads to dust collection on optical components, loud noise, and a shortened lifespan of 1-2 years. The Fermion BMV080 uses a physics-based optical counting approach to measure freely diffusing particles directly. This fanless approach assures fully silent operation and considerably improves reliability, extending operating service life to more than 10 years while eliminating the maintenance load associated with mechanical air ducts.
Unmatched Compactness for IoT Integration
With a physical volume more than 450 times lower than ordinary equivalent devices, this environmental sensing component expands the possibilities for embedded design. The tiny breakout board exposes all required pins and supports both I2C and SPI communication protocols for a versatile system architecture. Despite its small size, the Bosch sensor retains its complete native capability, guaranteeing that developers do not have to sacrifice performance in order to achieve a compact form factor.
Precision Multi-Parameter Monitoring
Data dependability is critical in air quality analysis. This air quality monitoring module uses laser scattering technology to provide robust and repeatable measurements across a range of 0-1000μg/m³. It gives real-time information on PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 concentrations. This multi-parameter capability enables a full examination of air quality situations, from daily interior environments to severe pollution scenarios, with a high resolution of 1 μg/m3.
Ultra-Low Power Consumption
The unit is designed with portable and battery-powered systems in mind, and it is extremely energy efficient. The core chip's excellent power management allows for sleep currents as low as 6uA.
