Banana Pi BPI-R4 High-Performance Router Board with MediaTek MT7988A, 10GbE, PCIe 3.0 and Wi-Fi 7 Expansion
The Banana Pi BPI-R4 is a high-performance networking and router development board built around the MediaTek MT7988A Filogic 880 network processor. Its quad-core Arm Cortex-A73 CPU operates at up to 1.8 GHz and is paired with 4GB or 8GB DDR4 memory, 8 GB eMMC storage, and 128 MB SPI-NAND Flash. Designed for advanced wired and wireless networking applications, the board provides multiple Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet options, PCIe expansion, USB connectivity, and storage interfaces for building powerful routers, gateways, and network appliances.
The BPI-R4 provides 4 x Gigabit Ethernet ports and supports 2 x 10GbE SFP interfaces, with a hardware-modification option allowing one interface to be configured as a SoC-integrated 2.5GbE PHY. Two miniPCIe slots with PCIe 3.0 x2 connectivity support compatible Wi-Fi 7 network cards, enabling tri-band 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz wireless router configurations. Additional M.2 Key-B and Key-M slots provide expansion for 4G/5G modems and NVMe storage. Combined with MediaTek's Tunnel Offload Processor System, GPIO expansion, and optional PoE functionality, the BPI-R4 is suitable for internet routers, Wi-Fi 7 gateways, NAS systems, home automation, and advanced network-development projects.
