B-U585I-IOT02A STM32U5 ARM Cortex-M33 32-Bit IoT Evaluation Board - Ultra-Low-Power TrustZone MCU with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, Multi-Sensor Suite, and ARDUINO Expansion for Embedded IoT Development

The B-U585I-IOT02A is STMicroelectronics' flagship evaluation board for the STM32U5 ultra-low-power microcontroller series, built around the STM32U585AII6Q - an ARM Cortex-M33 core MCU with ARM TrustZone hardware security, 2MB of Flash memory, 786KB of SRAM, and an integrated SMPS in a UFBGA169 package. The STM32U5 series targets connected IoT and battery-powered embedded applications where security, ultra-low standby current, and wireless connectivity must coexist with sufficient processing headroom for real-time sensor fusion, edge inference, and encrypted data handling. The ARM TrustZone implementation on the Cortex-M33 core provides hardware-enforced isolation between trusted and non-trusted execution environments on a single MCU, enabling secure boot, secure key storage, and peripheral access control without a dedicated secure element in cost-sensitive and space-constrained IoT designs.

Wireless connectivity is covered by a dual-stack implementation combining an MXCHIP 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi module for network-layer IoT cloud connectivity alongside STMicroelectronics Bluetooth Low Energy for short-range peripheral and sensor communication, allowing the evaluation board to operate as both a Wi-Fi-connected IoT node and a BLE peripheral or central without additional wireless hardware. The onboard MEMS sensor suite from STMicroelectronics is exceptionally comprehensive for an evaluation board in this class, covering 2 digital microphones, a relative humidity and temperature sensor, a 3-axis magnetometer, a combined 3D accelerometer and 3D gyroscope, a 260-1260 hPa absolute digital barometric pressure sensor, a time-of-flight and gesture-detection sensor, and an ambient-light sensor, providing a complete multi-modal sensing platform for algorithm development, sensor fusion evaluation, and edge AI inference benchmarking without external sensor modules. External memory resources include 512Mbit Quad-SPI Flash, 64Mbit Octo-SPI PSRAM, and 256Kbit I2C EEPROM, supplying ample storage and execution memory for complex firmware stacks, ML model weights, and data logging buffers. The onboard STLINK-V3E debugger and programmer supports USB re-enumeration across mass storage, Virtual COM port, and debug port modes, and the board is supported by the complete STM32CubeU5 software package with comprehensive libraries, middleware, and examples for IAR Embedded Workbench, MDK-ARM, and STM32CubeIDE.
