The Brass Liquid Solenoid Valve – 12V, 1/2" G/BSP Thread is a robust and durable solution for controlling liquid flow in DIY automation, gardening, aquarium, or pool projects. This normally-closed valve opens when 12V DC is applied, allowing water or other compatible fluids to flow through its 1/2-inch BSP (British Standard Pipe) threaded ports. Unlike plastic solenoid valves, this brass version does not require a minimum operating pressure, making it highly versatile for both low and high-pressure systems. While not food-safe certified, it is constructed from cast brass with an NBR (Nitrile Rubber) gasket, ensuring compatibility with most fluids that will not react with brass or NBR.
This valve may allow slight drips when closed under pressure, so it’s best suited for non-critical sealing applications. It can be actuated at lower voltages such as 6V DC, though operation is slower. Designed for integration with microcontrollers, it can be driven via a TIP120 transistor or N-channel MOSFET with a 1N4001 diode for kickback protection. For power, a 12V 5A adapter is recommended for stable operation.
