3DRobotics 433MHz V1 500mW Flight Controller Radio Telemetry Kit - SiK Firmware, MAVLink, and FHSS Bidirectional Telemetry for APM, PX4, and Pixhawk UAV Ground Station Communication
The 3DRobotics 433MHz V1 500mW Flight Controller Radio Telemetry Kit is the first-generation 433MHz telemetry radio pair from 3DRobotics, providing a 2-way half-duplex wireless data link between APM, PX4, and Pixhawk flight controllers and a ground-side mission planning station running APM Mission Planner or compatible MAVLink-based GCS software. Operating on the 433MHz ISM band, this V1 kit is the appropriate telemetry selection for regions where 433MHz is the designated licence-free sub-GHz data link frequency, covering Europe, large parts of Asia, and other regulatory zones where 915MHz ISM band operation is restricted or unavailable. The V1 designation identifies this as the original hardware revision in the 3DR 433MHz telemetry line, sharing the core SiK open-source firmware platform, MAVLink protocol framing, frequency hopping spread spectrum, and adaptive time division multiplexing architecture that defines the 3DR telemetry radio family across all variants and frequency bands.
The kit pairs an air-side radio module for flight controller TTL UART connection with a ground-side radio for laptop or ground station integration, both pre-configured for direct connection to APM, PX4, and Pixhawk hardware without manual baud rate or protocol setup. The SiK firmware running on both units supports AT command-based local configuration and RT command-based remote configuration of the air-side unit from the ground station, allowing power output, air data rate, duty cycle, and frequency hopping parameters to be adjusted without physical access to the UAV. The built-in error correcting code recovers up to 25% data bit errors without retransmission, improving link reliability under marginal signal and interference conditions typical of 433MHz shared-band UAV operations. As a V1 hardware revision, this kit is well-suited for builders and operators establishing a proven, community-supported 433MHz MAVLink telemetry link on APM and Pixhawk platforms, where the V1 hardware generation is the preferred or required variant for compatibility with existing ground station hardware and software configurations.
