The TPS61240DRVR from Texas Instruments is a synchronous step-up (boost) DC-DC converter designed for compact, battery-powered applications requiring a stable 5V output. Operating from an input range of 2.3V to 5.5V, it efficiently boosts low battery voltages—such as from a single Li-Ion cell or multiple NiMH cells—to a regulated output of up to 5V at 450mA.

With 3.5MHz switching frequency, it supports ultra-compact designs using only a 1µH inductor and two ceramic capacitors. It integrates load disconnect, soft-start, and thermal shutdown for safety and reliability. The automatic PFM/PWM transition ensures optimal efficiency—up to 90%—across varying loads, ideal for portable USB-OTG, HDMI, and mobile power systems.
