The TPS61089RNRR from Texas Instruments is a high-efficiency 7A synchronous boost converter designed for portable, battery-powered, and high-performance electronic systems. Featuring an integrated 19mΩ main power switch and 27mohm rectifier switch, it provides excellent efficiency and compact design. Operating from a wide 2.7V to 12V input range, the device supports output voltages up to 12.6V, making it ideal for applications powered by single-cell or dual-cell Li-ion batteries.
The TPS61089 uses an adaptive constant off-time peak current control topology, ensuring fast transient response and stable regulation. It automatically switches between PWM mode under medium to heavy loads and PFM mode during light loads to optimize efficiency. The TPS610891 variant operates solely in PWM mode, avoiding issues caused by low-frequency switching. The device supports adjustable switching frequencies from 200kHz to 2.2MHz, providing flexibility in efficiency and size optimization. Built-in features include a 4ms soft start, adjustable peak current limit, 13.2V output overvoltage protection, cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown, ensuring reliable and safe operation. Housed in a compact VFQFN-11 package, this IC is engineered for high-density power designs in portable and industrial systems.
