TPS563201DDCR - 3A Synchronous Buck Switching Regulator IC, 4.5V–17V Input, SOT-23-6 Package

The TPS563201DDCR from Texas Instruments is a compact, high-efficiency 3A synchronous step-down converter designed for ease of use and minimal external component count. Operating from a 4.5V to 17V input voltage range, it provides a stable and efficient output voltage from 0.76V to 7V. This switch-mode power supply (SMPS) device integrates high- and low-side 95mohm and 57mohm MOSFETs, ensuring excellent thermal performance and low conduction losses. The device employs the D-CAP2 control scheme, enabling fast transient response and compatibility with low ESR output capacitors such as polymer or ceramic types—eliminating the need for external compensation components.

With its 580kHz fixed switching frequency, pulse-skip mode operation, and low shutdown current (<20uA), the TPS563201 achieves superior light-load efficiency and reduced power consumption. Advanced protection features include cycle-by-cycle current limit, hiccup-mode overcurrent protection, under-voltage protection (UVP), and thermal shutdown (TSD). Designed for operation from −40 C to+125 C, and housed in a tiny 6-pin SOT-23 (DDC) package, the TPS563201 is ideal for compact power solutions in consumer electronics, industrial automation, and communication systems.

Key Features:

  • Wide Input Voltage Range: 4.5V to 17V for flexible system designs.
  • Adjustable Output Voltage: 0.76V to 7V with high precision and stability.
  • High Current Capability: Supports up to 3A continuous output current.
  • Integrated FETs: 95mohm (high-side) and 57mohm (low-side) for reduced conduction losses.
  • D-CAP2™ Control Scheme: Provides fast transient response and supports low ESR output capacitors.
  • Pulse-Skip Mode: Enhances efficiency under light-load conditions (TPS563201 variant).
  • High Switching Frequency: 580kHz operation for smaller inductor and capacitor selection.
  • Low Shutdown Current: Consumes less than 20µA in standby mode.
  • Accurate Feedback Voltage: +-2% accuracy at 25 C ensures stable regulation.
