TPS54821RHLR 4.5V–17V, 8A Synchronous Step-Down Converter | Texas Instruments

The Texas Instruments TPS54821RHLR is a high-performance 8A synchronous buck converter designed for compact, efficient, and thermally robust DC-DC power applications. Operating from a 4.5V to 17V input, it delivers precise and efficient step-down power conversion with an adjustable output voltage as low as 0.6V, making it ideal for powering FPGAs, processors, and DSPs.

Featuring integrated 26mΩ (high-side) and 19mΩ (low-side) MOSFETs, the TPS54821 ensures high efficiency across a wide load range. It offers programmable switching frequency (200kHz–1.6MHz) and external clock synchronization, enabling optimization between size and efficiency. Advanced protection features such as cycle-by-cycle current limit, hiccup mode overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown ensure reliable and safe operation under all conditions.

Applications

  • Digital TVs, set-top boxes, and Blu-ray players
  • Networking and telecom equipment
  • Industrial automation systems
  • FPGA, ASIC, and processor power rails
  • High-performance point-of-load regulation
