The TPS54040DGQR is a high-performance 0.5A, 3.5V–42V step-down (buck) converter from Texas Instruments’ SWIFT family, designed for high-efficiency power conversion in industrial, automotive, and communication systems. Featuring an integrated 200mΩ high-side MOSFET, this regulator provides robust performance with minimal external components, making it ideal for compact and reliable DC-DC power designs. With a low ripple pulse-skip Eco-mode, the converter maintains high efficiency even at light loads, drawing just 116uA quiescent current, and only 1.3uA in shutdown mode when the enable pin is pulled low. Additional features such as slow start/sequencing, Power Good indication, adjustable UVLO, and comprehensive protection circuitry (frequency foldback, cycle-by-cycle current limit, and thermal shutdown) ensure safe and reliable operation. The thermally enhanced 10-pin HVSSOP PowerPAD package delivers superior heat dissipation and compact form factor for high-density PCB layouts.
