Description

The TPS25810 is a USB Type-C DFP controller that has a 3-A USB power switch. The TPS25810 detects the presence of a USB device by monitoring the Type-C Configuration Channel (CC) lines. If an Upstream Facing Port (UFP) device is connected, the TPS25810 supplies power to VBUS and communicates the chosen VBUS current sourcing capability to the UFP via the passthrough CC line. If the UFP is connected via an electronically tagged cable, the TPS25810 also supplies VCONN power to the cable CC pin. The TPS25810 can also detect when Type-C audio or debug equipment are connected. Typically, the TPS25810 draws less than 0.7 uA when no device is connected. In S4/S5 system power states, more system power savings can be achieved by turning off the high power 5-V supply when no UFP is connected via the UFP output. In this mode, the device can be powered by an auxiliary supply (AUX), which will normally power the system uC in low power states (S4/S5). The AUX can be a lower voltage source (3.3 V).The TPS25810 34-mΩ power switch offers two adjustable fixed current limitations that match Type-C current levels. When the switch is overloaded or overheated, the FAULT output indicates this. The LD_DET output manages power to many high current Type-C ports in a situation where not all ports can offer high current (3 A).
