The TP4056 is a high-performance linear lithium-ion battery charger IC designed for safe and efficient charging of single-cell Li-ion and Li-polymer batteries. It follows a constant-current / constant-voltage (CC/CV) charging profile with a fixed 4.2 V float voltage, ensuring reliable charging accuracy within +-1%. The compact ESOP-8 package requires minimal external components, making it well suited for space-constrained portable and embedded designs.

This IC integrates an internal power MOSFET with thermal regulation, eliminating the need for external pass devices, current-sense resistors, or blocking diodes. The programmable charging current supports up to 1 A, while built-in safety features such as trickle charging, automatic recharge, undervoltage lockout, battery reverse protection, and battery temperature monitoring improve long-term battery reliability. Dual open-drain status pins provide clear charging and charge-complete indications for system integration.
