This dual-bit noninverting bus transceiver has two distinct programmable power rails. The A port is intended to track VCCA. VCCA may accept any supply voltage ranging from 1.2V to 3.6V. The B port is intended to monitor VCCB. VCCB can accept any supply voltage ranging from 1.2V to 3.6 V. This enables for bidirectional low-voltage translation between any of the 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, and 3.3V voltage nodes.
The SN74AVC2T245 enables asynchronous communication between two data buses. The logic levels of the direction-control (DIR) and output-enable (OE) inputs activate either the B-port or A-port outputs, or both output ports are set to high impedance. When the B-port outputs are turned on, the device sends data from the A bus to the B bus, and when the A-port outputs are turned on, it sends data from the B bus to the A bus. To prevent superfluous ICC and ICCZ, the input circuitry on both A and B ports is constantly active and must be set to logic HIGH or LOW.
VCCA supplies the SN74AVC2T245 control pins (DIR1, DIR2, and OE). This device is completely specified for Ioff-enabled partial power-down applications. When the device is turned off, the Ioff circuitry shuts the outputs to prevent damaging current backflow via it. The VCC isolation feature ensures that if either VCC input is at GND, both ports are in the high-impedance mode. To maintain the high-impedance condition during power up or power down, connect OE to VCC via a pull-up resistor; the minimum resistor value is governed by the driver's current-sinking capabilities.
