Soil sensors are commonly used in agricultural irrigation, greenhouses, flowers and vegetables, grassland and pastures, soil fast testing, plant culture, scientific studies, grain storage, and the measurement of moisture content and temperature in diverse particulate matter.
Soil temperature directly affects plant growth. Proper soil temperatures enhance root growth and nutrient absorption. In general, higher soil temperatures benefit plant growth by increasing plant metabolism, nutrient uptake and transport, and plant microbiological production capacities, all of which boost plant growth rate and yield.
Furthermore, adequate soil moisture aids plant roots in absorbing water and nutrients and maintains water balance inside plant cells. If the soil moisture level is too low, plant roots will have difficulty receiving water, which can result in dehydration, stalled growth, or even death. Excessive soil moisture can produce hypoxia in plant roots, preventing proper respiration and nutrient absorption, and so affecting plant growth and development.
