The MAX3232ECDR is a dual-channel RS-232 transceiver IC designed for reliable serial communication between microcontrollers and RS-232 interfaces. Operating from a wide 3.0V to 5.5V supply range, it integrates two drivers and two receivers, enabling full-duplex communication in embedded and industrial systems. The device complies with TIA/EIA-232-F standards and supports data rates up to 250 kbps, making it suitable for a wide range of serial communication applications.

Featuring an internal dual charge pump, the IC generates the required RS-232 voltage levels using only four small external capacitors, eliminating the need for dual power supplies. With robust +-15kV IEC ESD protection on serial-port pins, it ensures high reliability in harsh environments. Its controlled slew rate reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI), improving signal integrity across communication lines. The compact SOIC-16 package allows easy integration into space-efficient PCB designs.
