LM5574MTX/NOPB – Buck Switching Regulator IC 500mA TSSOP-16

The LM5574MTX/NOPB from Texas Instruments is a highly versatile and efficient 500mA step-down (buck) switching regulator designed for applications requiring wide input voltage operation, compact design, and superior reliability. With an input voltage range from 6V to 75V, it is ideal for industrial, automotive, and communications systems that need to step down high voltages to regulated low-power rails. This regulator integrates a 750mΩ, 75V N-channel MOSFET, providing high power efficiency while minimizing external components. The emulated current mode control architecture ensures excellent line and load regulation, fast transient response, and ease of loop compensation, even at low duty cycles—where traditional current-mode regulators typically struggle.

The operating frequency is adjustable from 50kHz to 500kHz using a single external resistor, allowing optimization for efficiency, size, or noise performance. The LM5574 also supports frequency synchronization, enabling synchronization to an external clock or self-synchronization with other LM(2)557x devices for reduced EMI. Built-in protection features such as cycle-by-cycle current limiting, thermal shutdown, short-circuit protection, and remote shutdown enhance robustness and reliability. With an adjustable soft-start, the device ensures controlled startup and minimizes inrush current. Packaged in a compact 16-pin TSSOP, the LM5574 delivers flexibility and dependability for demanding power supply designs.

Key Features:

  • Wide Input Voltage Range: Operates from 6V to 75V, suitable for industrial and automotive systems.
  • High Efficiency Design: Integrated 750mohm, 75V N-channel MOSFET minimizes power loss.
  • Output Current: Delivers up to 500mA continuous output current.
  • Adjustable Output Voltage: As low as 1.225V with 1.5% feedback reference accuracy.
  • Flexible Frequency Selection: Adjustable 50kHz to 500kHz switching frequency using a single resistor.
  • Frequency Synchronization: Supports synchronization with external clock or multiple LM(2)557x devices.
  • Emulated Current Mode Control: Simplifies compensation and provides fast transient response.
  • Adjustable Soft-Start: Limits inrush current during startup.
  • Comprehensive Protection: Includes cycle-by-cycle OCP, short-circuit, thermal shutdown, and remote shutdown.
  • Compact 16-Pin TSSOP Package: Efficient layout and thermal performance for high-reliability designs.
  • Applications: Ideal for industrial automation, communication systems, automotive electronics, and distributed power rails.
