Grove – Mini PIR Motion Sensor – Seeed Studio
The Grove – Mini PIR Motion Sensor is a compact and energy-efficient infrared motion detection module designed for applications requiring a shorter detection range and minimal power consumption. With its 20x20x12 mm miniature design, it fits seamlessly into space-constrained projects while maintaining stable performance. It offers a recommended detection distance of around 2 metres at an optimal temperature of 25 C, despite the datasheet listing a range of 3–5 metres. The sensor’s sensitivity can be customised through a reserved pin on the rear for soldering a slide rheostat, providing enhanced flexibility for fine-tuning detection accuracy. Additionally, slightly adjusting the height of the plastic lens cap can further improve sensitivity when needed. Equipped with a Grove-compatible interface, this sensor supports both Arduino and Raspberry Pi, making it suitable for home automation, lighting control, security projects and motion-triggered devices.
