Description

The 7Semi 64Mbit Flash Memory breakout is designed to use Serial Flash memory chips without soldering. This gives you freedom to erase, program and verify Serial Flash memory chip without soldering them to a PCB. This breakout uses W25Q64FVSSIQ IC from Winbond. The W25Q64FV is a 64M-bit Serial Flash memory that offers a compact and efficient storage solution for systems with limited space, pins, and power. The 25Q series provides high performance and flexibility, making it suitable for a variety of applications such as code shadowing to RAM, executing code directly from Dual/Quad SPI (XIP), and storing voice, text, and data.

The W25Q64FV offers support for multiple interface options including the standard Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), Dual/Quad I/O SPI, and 2-clocks instruction cycle Quad Peripheral Interface (QPI). The device is equipped with multiple I/O pins such as Serial Clock, Chip Select, Serial Data I/O0 (DI), I/O1 (DO), I/O2 (/WP), and I/O3 (/HOLD). It can handle high clock frequencies of up to 104MHz, which allows for equivalent clock rates of 208MHz (104MHz x 2) for Dual I/O and 416MHz (104MHz x 4) for Quad I/O when using the Fast Read Dual/Quad I/O and QPI instructions. These transfer rates exceed those of standard Asynchronous 8 and 16-bit Parallel Flash memories.

SPI Communication uses the following four wires -
  • SCK - This is the serial clock driven by the master.
  • MOSI - This is the master output / slave input driven by the master.
  • MISO - This is the master input / slave output driven by the master.
  • CS - This is the slave-selection wire.

64Mbit Serial Flash Memory Breakout Dimensions

A Flash Memory Breakout is a compact circuit board that allows a microcontroller or other device to store and access data on a flash memory chip. Flash memory is a type of non-volatile memory that can retain data even when power is turned off. This makes it ideal for storing firmware, data logs, and other important information in embedded systems.

The Flash Memory Breakout typically communicates with a microcontroller or other device through an SPI interface, and can be powered by a 3.3V or 5V power supply. Its compact size and ease of use make it an essential component in many embedded systems, such as data loggers, wearables, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

The module can store a large amount of data, typically ranging from a few kilobytes to several gigabytes, depending on the size of the flash memory chip. It also features fast read and write speeds, allowing data to be accessed quickly and efficiently. Overall, a Flash Memory Breakout is a versatile and reliable tool for storing and accessing data in embedded systems.
