Description

The 7Semi 16Mbit Flash Memory breakout is designed to use Serial Flash memory chips without soldering. This gives you freedom to erase, program and verify Serial Flash memory chip without soldering them to a PCB. The W25Q16JV is a 16M-bit Serial Flash memory that offers a compact and efficient storage solution for systems with limited space, pins, and power. The 25Q series provides high performance and flexibility, making it suitable for a variety of applications such as code shadowing to RAM, executing code directly from Dual/Quad SPI (XIP), and storing voice, text, and data. The W25Q16JV array is organized into 8,192 programmable pages of 256-bytes each.

The 16Mbit Serial Flash Memory SPI Breakout - W25Q16JVSSIQ is a high-performance memory module designed for use in a wide range of electronic systems. This breakout board uses the popular Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) protocol to communicate with other devices, making it easy to integrate into many digital designs. The W25Q16JVSSIQ features a 16Mbit memory capacity and can operate at speeds of up to 104MHz, providing fast and reliable access to stored data. The module is compatible with a wide range of microcontrollers and other digital devices, and can be easily programmed and erased using standard SPI commands. Its small size, low power consumption, and high-speed performance make it an ideal choice for many applications, including data storage, firmware updates, and program execution in embedded systems.

SPI Communication uses the following four wires -
  • SCK - This is the serial clock driven by the master.
  • MOSI - This is the master output / slave input driven by the master.
  • MISO - This is the master input / slave output driven by the master.
  • CS - This is the slave-selection wire.

A Flash Memory Breakout is a compact circuit board that allows a microcontroller or other device to store and access data on a flash memory chip. Flash memory is a type of non-volatile memory that can retain data even when power is turned off. This makes it ideal for storing firmware, data logs, and other important information in embedded systems.

The Flash Memory Breakout typically communicates with a microcontroller or other device through an SPI interface, and can be powered by a 3.3V or 5V power supply. Its compact size and ease of use make it an essential component in many embedded systems, such as data loggers, wearables, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

The module can store a large amount of data, typically ranging from a few kilobytes to several gigabytes, depending on the size of the flash memory chip. It also features fast read and write speeds, allowing data to be accessed quickly and efficiently. Overall, a Flash Memory Breakout is a versatile and reliable tool for storing and accessing data in embedded systems.
