Description

The 74LVC245A (74LVCH245A) is an 8-bit transceiver with three-state outputs. The device has output enable (OE) and send/receive (DIR) buttons for controlling the direction. A HIGH on OE switches the outputs to a high-impedance OFF state. Inputs can be powered by either 3.3 or 5 V devices. This functionality enables these devices to function as translators in situations with both 3.3 V and 5 V. Schmitt-trigger activity at all inputs allows the circuit to tolerate slower input rise and fall times. This device is completely described for partial power down applications that use IOFF. The IOFF circuitry stops the output, preventing potentially harmful backflow current through the device when it is turned off.
