5mm 940nm High Radiant Intensity Infrared LED for Free-Air Transmission and Sensing Applications

The IR333-A is a 5.0 mm through-hole infrared emitting diode from Everlight, engineered for high radiant intensity and reliable infrared transmission. Built using GaAlAs technology and housed in a blue epoxy T-1 3/4 package, this IR LED delivers a stable peak wavelength of 940 nm, ensuring excellent spectral matching with standard photodiodes, phototransistors, and IR receiver modules.

Designed for both continuous and pulsed operation, the IR333-A supports high peak forward current under controlled duty cycles, making it suitable for long-range free-air IR transmission and demanding sensing applications. Its low forward voltage, narrow viewing angle, and standard 2.54 mm lead spacing allow easy integration into through-hole PCBs commonly used in industrial, consumer, and safety-related infrared systems.

Key Features:

  • 940nm Infrared Emission: Optimised for silicon-based IR receivers
  • High Radiant Intensity: Strong optical output for long-distance transmission
  • 5mm T-1 3/4 Package: Robust through-hole design for reliable mounting
  • Narrow Viewing Angle: 20 beam for focused IR output
  • Low Forward Voltage: Energy-efficient operation
  • High Peak Current Capability: Suitable for pulsed IR applications
  • Standard Lead Spacing: 2.54 mm for easy PCB assembly
  • Environmental Compliance: RoHS, REACH, and halogen-free

Applications

  • Free-Air Infrared Transmission Systems: IR communication and signalling
  • Optoelectronic Switches: Object and position detection
  • Smoke Detectors: Infrared emission source
  • Infrared Sensor Modules: Detection and sensing systems
  • Legacy Storage Devices: Floppy disk drive sensors
